More Kangchenjunga Summits!

Today Tunç Findik summited Kangchenjunga! It is his 6th different Main-8000er after Everest (twice, once from Nepal and once from Tibet), Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Dhaulagiri I and Makalu. He also is the first Turkish climber, who ascended Kangchenjunga! Two Sherpa climbers were with him on top, Dawa II (6 times Everest, last year Makalu) and Mingma, who finished all 14 Main-8000ers. He is the first Sherpa climber to do so! More about this historical feat soon! Swiss Guntis Brands, who attempted to be the oldest climber on the mountain, turned around at about 8200 m!

 
Radek climbed his 12th Main-8000er Today: Lhotse

Czech climber Radek Jaroš summited Lhotse today. This is his 12th Main-8000er! He only needs K2 and Annapurna I to complete the 14 8000ers and to be the first Czech climber to do so.

Kangchenjunga Summits

Ludovic Challéat (41, France, 6th different Main-8000er), Philippe Gatta (42, France, 2nd after Everest) and Cedric Hählen (29, Switzerland, 2nd after K2) summited Kangchenjunga today.

Also Christian Stangl (K2 "fantasy ascent" 2010) and a Russian climber summited as well according to the report.

First Everest-Lhotse Traverse by Michael Horst

American climber Michael Horst, who earlier ascended Everest and Cho Oyu twice, stood on top of Everest and Lhotse within 24 hours. It was the first traverse from the top of Everest across the South Col to the top of Lhotse! Congratulations!

According to the report below he ascended Everest yesterday morning together with Rob Hart and this morning he stood on top of Lhotse!

Sad News: Japanese Climber Died on Everest

Takashi Ozaki (58), Japanese climber, who ascended Everest twice and five additional 8000ers (Broad Peak, Manaslu, Lhotse, Kangchenjunga and Makalu plus Shisha Pangma Central-Peak), died sadly yesterday on Everest.   

Again a great loss for the climbing community!

Our thoughts are with his family and friends!
