Tragedy on K2
Friday, 06 August 2010 10:31

Sad news from K2: No luck again for Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner! When she attempted the top of K2 this morning with Swedish companion Fredrik Ericsson, he tragically fell to his death.

This is again a sad loss for the climbing community. Fredrik climbed Shisha Pangma Central-Peak in 2004 and Gasherbrum II in 2005. He was only 35 years old.

Our deepest condolences go to his family and friends.

Rescue Attempts abandoned on Makalu
Sunday, 30 May 2010 11:36

It seems, that there is no hope anymore for the Greek climber Zaharias (Haris) Kiriakakis (44), who was the first Greek to ascent Makalu on May 26th. Arnold Coster, the expedition leader abandoned the rescue attempts today. The last radio contact was on May 28th. Again, a very sad end of the season! Before Makalu Haris also climbed Cho Oyu in 2007 and Lhotse in 2008.

Our heartfelt condolences go to all, who knew and loved him!
