1995 After the successful ascent of K2 six climbers died on descent. They were Alison Hargreaves (33), British lady climber, who three months earlier climbed Everest without bottled oxygen; Javier Escartin (46), Spanish Aragonese climber, who ascended Gasherbrum I in 1983; Lorenzo Ortiz (29), another Spanish Aragonese climber, who ascended Nanga Parbat in 1994; Javier Olivar (38), a third Spanish Aragonese climber, Bruce Lindsay Grant (31), a climber from New Zealand and the American climber Rob Slater (34).
2006 In an avalanche on K2 four Russian climbers died on this day.
