1929 Gerhard Schmatz, German climber, who ascended Manaslu in 1973, Tirich Mir in 1975, Everest in 1979, Gasherbrum I in 1986 and Cho Oyu in 1988. He finished the Kosciuszko-version of the Seven Summits in 1986 and the Carstensz-version in 1992. He died in 2005, aged 75.

1921 Alexander Mitchell (Alec) Kellas, British (Scottish) pioneer, who was best known for his studies in high altitude physiology. He also achieved the first ascent of Pauhunri (7107 m) in 1911. He died in Tibet, aged 52.
2005 Dieter Kramer, German climber, who ascended Shisha Pangma Central-Peak in 1998 and Nanga Parbat in 2001, died on Everest, aged 49.
2009 Giuliano de Marchi, Italian climber, who ascended Shisha Pangma in 1985 and Cho Oyu in 1988, died on Antelao, aged 62.
