Born on this day

1939 Junko Tabei, Japanese lady climber, who in 1975 was the first woman, who ascended Everest. She also ascended Shisha Pangma in 1981 and Cho Oyu in 1996. In 1992 she finished the Carstensz- and the Kosciuszko-versions of the Seven Summits. She is probably also the person with the most ascents of highest mountains of countries. She died in 2016, aged 77.
