Eric Larsen finished the "Three Poles"

When Eric Larsen summited Everest on October 15th together with four Sherpa climbers, he also finished the so-called "Three Poles". The table is updated, but there are the first finishing dates for North and South Pole, not the repetitions from this year.

Alix Von Melle Summits Cho Oyu

On October 2nd lady climber Alix von Melle from Germany and Austrian Rupert Hauer summited Cho Oyu!

It was Alix's fourth 8000er after Gasherbrum II in 2006, Nanga Parbat in 2008 and Dhaulagiri I in 2009.

Walter Nones Died on Cho Oyu

Yesterday Italian climber Walter Nones (39) died on Cho Oyu. He climbed K2 in 2004 and witnessed the death of his companion Karl Unterkircher on Nanga Parbat in 2008. Again a great loss for the climbing community!

Lama Geshe Suffers a Stroke

The famous Lama Geshe (79) from Pangboche, the highest ranking Lama in his area, suffered a stroke around the 20th September. There is a call to climbers for help from his family!
