Gone on this day

2018 Simone La Terra, Italian climber, who ascended Shisha Pangma in 2006, Broad Peak in 2007, Gasherbrum II in 2008, Cho Oyu in 2009 and Manaslu RP in 2011, died on Dhaulagiri I, aged 36.

New Age Record on Shisha Pangma confirmed

When Austrian climber Alois Neuhuber summited Shisha Pangma in 1997, he became the oldest climber on top of this mountain (65 years and 32 days). On May 17th Japanese climber Kazuyoshi Kondo summited with Edurne Pasaban and all the others and achieved a new age record with 68 years and 176 days. It was his eighth 8000er! Congratulations!

 
Another new Country on Everest: Bangladesh

It was reported, that yesterday Musa Ibrahim from Bangladesh summited Everest. The first 8000er summited by a Bangladeshi was in autumn 2009, when Abdul Mohit ascended Cho Oyu! Now Bangladesh is the 67th country with at least two different 8000ers.

Everest without bottled Oxygen - Gerlinde, Gnaro and more

It is always dangerous to climb Everest without bottled oxygen, but today several climbers made it, they were Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner (her 13th 8000er!) together with Italians Silvio (Gnaro) Mondinelli, Abele Blanc, Marco Camandona and Michele Enzio. Four tables are already updated, First 2, 10to14, female 3to14 and TOP5 women.

A very rare feat was achieved by Gnaro. Only eight climbers managed it to climb Everest from Nepal and Tibet without bottled oxygen. He is the only European after Reinhold Messner, who made it. This special table is uploaded here now for the first time!

Gerlinde's husband Ralf Dujmovits needed to stop at about 8300 m and waited for her return there.

Everest: Progressive Youngest Table

After Jordan Romero summited Everest with only 13 years old, it is interesting to know the chronological progress of the youngest age records in history.

New Countries on Everest: Oman and Montenegro

Among the many recent ascents, the first Omani summited Everest today: Khalid Sulaiman Humaid Al Siyabi (36). He summit with Peak Freaks!

On the North Side the first climbers from Montenegro summited today as well. They were Đorđije Vujičić, Marko Blečić and Dragutin Vujović. They were accompanied by Serbian climber Dragan Čeliković.
